LIBRARY CARD POLICY

 The Saugerties Public Library issues free cards to all Saugerties residents, and also residents of Columbia, Greene, Ulster, Dutchess, and Putnam Counties.

Library Cards are used to check out library materials, sign on to public access computers, and to pre-pay for computer printouts.

How to Apply for a Library Card

All card applicants, 16 years and older, must provide photo identification and proof of current residency.

Please bring proper identification:

• Driver’s license or permit (Photo ID) with current address.

OR…

• Photo ID and mail with current address.

Children, from 6 to 15 years old, MUST:

• Be able to sign their own first name without hands-on guidance.
• Be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with proper identification, and whose Library Card is in good standing with fines of $5 or less.

Library Cards expire every three years.

• Renew in person at the Library.
• Fines must not exceed $5 to renew a Library Card.

Lost or Stolen Cards

Replacement of Lost cards cost $2.00 for adults and children.

Adults, 16 years and older, must show proper identification to replace a card.

• The existing card must be in good standing with fines of $5 or less before a replacement is issued.

Children, from 6 to 15 years old, must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with proper identification to replace a card.

• Parent or legal guardian’s Library Card must be in good standing with fines of $5 or less before a replacement is issued.
